A Hope in Vain

For one moment you're a bright star,
whose light pierces through the darkness,
and overpowers the rest.

But then the next moment,
you slip back into that darkness;
just an insignificant little star,
hardly daring to give out its light.

Then you realize that the bright star
was just a dream...
a distant fantasy that never will be.
